Rosemary Rising
The Rosemary District gets its party on in celebration of its continued climb to hipness next Thurs., Oct. 7 from 5-9 p.m. The annual event, Rosemary Rising, features dance demonstrations, live music, fashion and more family-friendly and free activities.

The downtown Sarasota neighborhood bills itself as being “on the corner of fashion and art.” It’s also bordered by Tamiami Trail, 10th Street, North Orange Avenue and Fruitville Road. Among the shops deemed cool enough for the young and scrappy district are funky boutique Everything but the Girl, decor store Home Resource and serene spa shop PURE luxe. If you’re hungry afterward, get a table at Derek’s. Oysters and caviar, anyone?
