Simply Spoiled Boutique (1471 Main St., Sarasota) is throwing a “Sparty” tomorrow in honor of Go To Girl, a new marketing/public relations/event planning business by Molly Klauber. You’ll get a 10 percent discount on all purchases throughout the day, but if you have a favorite brand in mind, you’ll want to time your visit. Each hour gives a 5 percent bonus off of a different product line.

Downtown Sarasota accessories boutique T.Georgiano’s Shoe Salon (1409B First St.) turns three years old this Friday, Dec. 10. Don’t expect cake and clowns at this birthday party, but champagne and light bites. Oh, and a fabulous trunk show premiering Sarasota native Diana E. Kelly’s latest line of footwear. Not familiar with her style? It’s youthful, like the designer herself, comfortable and, most importantly, so cute!

The trunk show runs from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. You have to wait for the champagne, though. That doesn’t start flowing until 5 p.m. What better way to say goodbye to a workweek?

As if all this weren’t enough, you could also win a signature clutch by Diana E. Kelly and you qualify for exclusive savings. Friday only, get 10 percent off your first purchase and 15 percent off two pairs of shoes from the new collections. I don’t know about you, but my collection could use a little newness!

New Downtown Shop Is Something Elsa

Downtown Sarasota’s newest women’s clothing shop can be summed up by five words: “European elegance meets Brazil hotness.” ElsA (1359 Main St., Sarasota) just opened last week, and c0-owner Ania Laniewksi says the boutique’s concept centers on women today being pressed for time. She and her business partner Elsie Parrilla want ElsA to act as a one-stop shop that can dress customers for an entire trip, including traveling clothes, resort wear and bathing suits, workout attire, evening wear and accessories.

Laniewski and Parrilla strive to stock up-and-coming designers and one-of-a-kind artisan pieces. Most of ElsA’s merchandise is exclusive to Sarasota. Some items you won’t find anywhere else nearby: bright winter coats and dresses by BB Dakota, sexy one-shoulder tops by I.C.U. and subdued yet hot wrap dresses by Elan. I love the multicolored spectator pumps by Bruno Magetti and multipatterned bags by Corazon de Melon. The store’s price range is $100-$500.

Expect a grand opening in a few weeks, just in time for Christmas or a jet-setting vacation.

Holiday Time Rosemary-Style

Rosemary Rising VI Holiday Walk happens on Dec. 2.

Rosemary Rising returns with the Rosemary District’s sixth-annual Holiday Walk next Thursday, Dec. 2, from 5-9 p.m.

Live music will ring on every corner courtesy of The Equines, Cassolette and Sound & Fury. Shops will host mini parties with festive food and drink. And, of course, Santa will make an appearance. His corner of choice? Fifth Street and Central Avenue.

Despite our enviably warm weather, it will begin to feel a lot like Christmas during the Rosemary District’s event!

Gymmey's Fitness Wear reopens in downtown Sarasota Fri., Nov. 19.

Fashionable sportswear store Gymmey’s Fitness Wear has completed renovations of its original location at 1650 Main St., Sarasota. It reopens tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Owner Ronda Gallehue believes you perform better when you feel good about yourself. You can’t help but feel good in Gymmey’s workout wear, which she sources from around the world. Labels include edgy Protokolo Sportswear, sexy Bia Brazil and feminine Bluefish Sport.

Stay tuned for details about a grand reopening party. Ronda and crew know how to throw a fun bash, so you can be sure I’ll be there!

A New Sarasota Shopping Tradition

The Atomic Holiday Bazaar is Dec. 11 and 12 in the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium.

It’s almost that time of year again! The Atomic Holiday Bazaar invades the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium on Dec. 11-12. The past two years, I’ve made it my must-shop tradition for the quirky, indie crafts. You’ll feel like you’re shopping in a real-life Etsy. I’ve found picture frames made from vintage hardback book covers, deer-emblazoned cloth pouches and Scrabble-tile earrings.

Besides the more than 100 vendors, the bazaar gets really funky Saturday night with four bands and dancing girls. They’re calling it “a 21st Century Vaudeville-esque/Variety Show.”

Want to know more? Of course you do! Hours are 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, noon-5:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults. Kids 12 and under are free. The Saturday night show runs from 6-11:45 p.m., and tickets cost $10.

Sarasota Shopping Roundup

What a great week for shopping in Sarasota! Artisans, a non-profit store selling handmade international wares, has opened in Lakewood Ranch. All items, from greeting cards to scarves, are by artisans living below the poverty level, so you can shop and give back, too. The soft opening was last Friday, but a grand opening is on the horizon.

In downtown Sarasota, two boutiques have added new merchandise. At T. Georgiano’s (1409 First St., Suite B, Sarasota), Diane E. Kelly Inc. footwear and handbags suit today’s day-to-night dressing. Clutches, flats, and low and high pumps all are ready for an evening out. Prices range from $75 to $228. Lotus’ (1451 Main St., Sarasota) HOBO handbag fall and holiday trunk show runs through tomorrow, Nov. 10. HOBO has some of my favorite designs, and you can custom order colors and styles.

I’m making a couple of gift lists just from these announcements. One for friends and family and one for me!

Blackbird Home Gallery celebrates its first birthday Friday, Nov. 5.

Blackbird Home Gallery (1540 Main St., Sarasota) celebrates its first birthday this Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., and some neighborhood friends are providing the entertainment. Main Street’s Stitch Boutique and Lotus will showcase their shops’ fall fashions, and cocktails will be served.

Of course, Blackbird’s own chic-and-natural furnishings and accessories will be on display, as well. What a way to welcome first Friday!

P.S. Rumor has it Stitch Boutique is moving to the very recently vacant 1463 Main St.

Coquillage Goes to Market

I stopped in this evening at Coquillage (1515 Main St., Sarasota) to see owner Melanie Denicourt and her store’s new merchandise. She has just returned from High Point Market, the biannual international furniture show. She showed me photos on her iPhone of a few of the goodies she ordered.

Among her gorgeous finds: large 4-foot x 6-foot vintage-y, scientific-looking charts of seashells from Design Legacy. She described the charts as “organic, linen, like going back 200 years.” She’s also expecting pillows with coral motifs from the same company. Look for her own pillow line in about six months. Her other purchases include lamps and orbs made of oyster shells and barnacles and gorgeous, unusual dining chairs from Aidan Gray that have a newsprint design on the backs.

The new merchandise should arrive in about 10 days. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait!

Handbag designer Andrea Posse of Posse NYC and footwear designer Paul Mayer Attitudes will be on hand at T. Georgiano’s (1409 First St., Suite B, Sarasota) this Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They’ll be showing off their latest styles and chatting with customers.

The accessories-happy store has new lines of boots, jewelry and apparel for your viewing and buying pleasure, too. I’ll be slipping out of work for lunch or maybe a little early to revamp my fall wardrobe.
